Blog Entry #3
👽 Summary of Week 5 👽
In week 5, we learnt about how to do manual drawings and use Fusion 360.
During the lesson, we were taught about one-point and two-point perspective
drawing and we were tasked to draw various objects. Below is my attempt on a
two-perspective drawing of a ☕ coffee maker ☕.
Manual Perspective Drawing:
Drawing in perspective was way harder than I had expected, especially since
I had absolutely no clue on how to draw objects that were curved and was
just winging my way through it in hopes it will somewhat resemble a coffee
maker 😅😅. In the end, even though it looks kind of ugly, I'm still quite
proud of my efforts since it was only my first time 😺.
We then moved on to drawing my group's product.
This was a two-point perspective on the 🌊 aquarium filter 🌊 product that my group
had come up with. Thankfully, there wasn't as many curves to be drawn as
compared to the coffee maker 😌 and I would say this
one was much better after some practice.
Fusion 360 Sketch:
Afterwards, we played around with the
Fusion 360 app to create
multiple things such as a keyring and 🖼 photo frame 🖼 which at first was quite difficult to maneuver around since we were very
new to the application. There were many different functions that were
available and I had no idea what a lot of them did. However, at the end,
fortunately I managed to get the hang of creating simple objects and below
was the

that my group created.Practical 2:
During practical 2, we were tasked to produce a cardboard model using a
variety of cardboard joineries. The only requirement was that we had to use
at least
6 different
joineries.
Practical 2 was quite fun as we had a lot of creative freedom to design
whatever we wanted with the cardboard that we were given, as long as we
followed the one requirement
which was surprisingly harder than we had expected. The way my group had
gotten the inspiration for the design was honestly quite funny as our
inspiration randomly came from the cover of the box of cardboard tools we
were given, which was a 🚘 car 🚘.
Initially, it was Jian Lun, Devin, Gayathri and I who were working on a car
as Alex spontaneously decided he wanted to create a car for himself to take
home 😹.
However, after awhile, we realised the measurements and having to cut out
the different sides of the car would be too time consuming and we would not
be able to complete it within the stipulated time period since we had made
it way too big ðŸ˜ðŸ˜. In the end, we decided to work together on the car Alex
was working on since it was much smaller and miraculously, he had somehow
single handedly progressed much further with his car as compared to the
combined efforts of the 4 of us ??? 😂😂.
Finally, the car had used these joineries:
- L - brace: car seat
- Slot + Tab: car door
- Flange: car steering wheel
- Skewer: flag decoration
- Hole: to insert decorations through such as the headlights.
We then decided to put our own personalised touches to it by writing our
own signatures on the different sides of the car and decorated it using
markers and it was finally
done.

In the end, I realised that we probably should have measured out the
dimensions of the car properly and did some sort of pre-planning to avoid
not finishing within the time limits again. This time, we were just
extremely lucky that Alex decided to pursue a side objective and make his
own car as that had inadvertently become our backup plan and saving
grace.
